About Dramatherapy

What is Dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is a type of psychotherapy that uses drama, movement, storytelling, and creative expression as a medium to support emotional wellbeing and personal growth. It offers a safe and contained environment where thoughts and feelings can be explored through imagination, symbolism, and embodied experience.

It is not about performance. It is about process.

Through play, metaphor, role, and narrative, individuals are invited to explore different parts of themselves, rehearse new possibilities, and reshape personal stories in ways that feel empowering and meaningful.

Dramatherapy can be particularly supportive for those who may find verbal expression difficult, offering alternative pathways for communication and understanding.

Where is Dramatherapy Used?

Dramatherapy is widely practised in:

  • Primary and secondary schools

  • CAMHS services

  • Alternative provision settings

  • Supported living environments

  • Community and voluntary sector organisations

It supports children, young people, and adults navigating emotional challenges, trauma, identity development, anxiety, and social or relational difficulties.

My Approach

I am a qualified Dramatherapist, having completed my MA in Drama and Movement Therapy at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

My work is rooted in a holistic and person-centred approach. I integrate embodied practice with creative expression, holding space for emotional exploration, identity work, and growth. I believe that healing happens when individuals feel seen, heard, and safe enough to explore any emotions and narratives that they want to explore.

Alongside traditional dramatherapeutic methods, I bring a unique lens to my practice through my background in videography and media. I thoughtfully integrate creative media tools to support storytelling, identity exploration, and self-expression, particularly for those who may struggle to articulate their experiences through physical play.

Born and raised in London, I am deeply committed to working within my local community, creating inclusive and responsive spaces for healing, empowerment, and connection.

Current Work

I currently work with two London-based charities that provide dramatherapy and other creative arts therapies within schools across London and Greater London:

Through this work I am currently doing, therapeutic spaces are created directly within educational settings, making support accessible and embedded within young people’s everyday environments.

At present, I am not accepting private referrals.

If you are an organisation interested in accessing dramatherapy services or would like to explore how this work could support your setting, I encourage you to contact one of the charities above directly.
